My Lomo - The journey so far / 23-Jan-2010 / 1 comment

It was around half a year ago that Father Christmas (being the generous man he is) placed my Lomo Holga under the Christmas tree. We have had an interesting if not slightly distant relationship ever since. At the start I could hardly contain my excitement, I spent many a lunch time looking for creative shots to fill that first roll of film. I clambered around disused warehouses, photographed street gangs who gave chase, all to get those oh so Urban shots. Then finally the day came when I took in my film for processing, with trepidation I waited the two hours for development. Only then was I greeted with the fruits of my labour...... a blank roll of film, A BLANK ROLL OF FILM, you supplied the camera with a blank roll of film!!! WHY?!? WHY would you do such a thing and not tell me! Curse you.

So eventually I got over my trust issues and reunited myself with the plastic masterpiece. The results of which I have annotated below, all of these shots were taken in and around the City and East End of London.

The red is caused by light leaking in through the Film Counter (red transparent plastic bit), although I wouldn't want this on every shot I quite like the effect here

After a few occurences of the excessive leak I decided to tape up the Film Counter, and it hasn't occured since.

Tower Bridge Lomography Photo

Slightly under exposed Tower Bridge, so far I have only used ISO100 film which needs pretty good light. Nice vignetting on the edges though

Double Exposed Lomography Photo

Halfway through my second roll of film I was horrified to find I had the shutter setting on 'Bulb', So the shutter stays open for as long as you have your finger on the trigger. Some of the shots were unusable but I quite like this one.

Long Double Exposured Lomography Photo

Yep this is me, call it a self portrait

Gherkin Lomography Photo

My favourite part of the Lomo is the ability to force double exposures. Some I have done on accident and some on purpose but the result is normally pretty good.

Another double exposure, only one of these was intentional. A simple camera mod might be some kind of indicator for when you haven't wound on.

Flowers Lomography Photo

Everyone likes flowers, I might cross process the next roll of film to get some more vivid colours.

Flowers and Fence Lomography Photo

This is my personal favourite. A bit of urban meets nature.

I will endeavour to keep using my Lomo, so watch this space for more updates
